What to Expect

What To Expect In Your First Session

During your first session, you’ll be asked to complete some administrative forms and a questionnaire designed to provide your counselor with more detailed information regarding your treatment needs. When you meet with your counselor, the information you provide will be reviewed with you in order to develop a treatment plan. (A treatment plan is simply the goals you hope to achieve with the counseling process.)

Also, you and your counselor will decide who should participate in counseling. We offer individual, couple, child, adolescent, and family therapy. This can change throughout the counseling process as goals are revised or new goals are created. Additionally, your specific counseling goals may indicate additional assessment is needed. Your counselor will discuss this with you during the session. The first session typically ends with a few minutes for you to express concerns or ask questions. You and your counselor will decide on the next appointment date and time.
